Walk Along Kingsbarns Beach

Cambo Sands (often called Kingsbarns Beach) is a two-mile stretch of golden sand backed by dunes. It’s an ideal spot for morning or evening walks and picnics. The wide beach is less crowded than nearby West Sands, and offers panoramic views of the North Sea. Keep an eye out for seals in the surf or dragonflies in summer. After your walk, you can grab a snack at Harbour Burger, a popular food stand serving amazing burgers, loaded fries and hotdogs, or simply relax and watch the sun set over the water.

Visit Kingsbarns Distillery

Just inland from the beach you’ll find Kingsbarns Distillery, a modern whisky and gin distillery built in a restored 18th-century farm steading. The distillery offers informative tours and tastings, you can see the copper stills and learn how their single malt whisky and botanical gin are made. There’s also a café and shop on site, where you can enjoy homemade soups, cakes and teas with an outdoor terrace overlooking the estate. The setting is picturesque (surrounded by barley fields and woodland), and tours are available every day. It’s a great stop for “whisky tourists” or anyone interested in Scottish craft spirits.

Golf at Kingsbarns Golf Links

Golfers will know Kingsbarns Golf Links – one of Scotland’s top-ranked links courses. Carved into the coastline just a mile from the village, this championship course is “known for its sweeping sea views” and undulating fairways Kingsbarns Links regularly appears on lists of the world’s best courses. It’s consistently ranked among Scotland’s very finest, offering a true links experience with natural dunes, deep bunkers and panoramic ocean scenery. Quiet Day Trips and Local Discoveries

Outside of the main attractions, Kingsbarns makes a lovely base for laid‑back outings. Cambo Estate is just a short drive away – it includes Cambo Gardens, a 2.5-acre walled garden dating from the 1800s. The gardens are “stunning” year-round with colourful plantings and woodland walks. Walk trails through the estate woods down to the shore, or explore the garden’s snowdrops in spring and prairie planting in autumn.

For a unique spa experience, try the Wild Scottish Sauna on Kingsbarns Beach. This cedar-clad, wood-fired sauna is nestled among the dunes overlooking the sea. Visitors alternate between the sauna’s heat and refreshing dips in the sea, a classic Nordic-style “hot-cold” ritual that’s surprisingly invigorating. It’s an unusual way to unwind after a hike or a round of golf.

If you have extra time, the Fife Coastal Path runs right through Kingsbarns. You can follow it north to Crail or south towards Pittenweem and other East Neuk fishing villages. Along the way you’ll find quaint harbours, seaside cafés, and wildlife viewing spots. Back in Kingsbarns itself, the village has a friendly local pub (The Inn at Kingsbarns) serving hearty food, as well as a takeaway burger stand by the beach. In short, Kingsbarns is all about enjoying the coastal scenery at your own pace, whether that means a round of golf (book a golf stay with us today), a distillery tour, or a peaceful beach stroll.
