A BETTER BASE FOR YOUR ST ANDREWS GOLF BREAK

Space, Flexibility and More Time Together

Self-catering gives your group the flexibility to organise each day around changing tee times, early starts and individual plans. Prepare breakfast when it suits, enjoy relaxed evenings together and avoid splitting the group across separate hotel rooms. With a comfortable home base, you can dine out, cook in or simply unwind together between rounds. It also makes longer stays feel easier, with space to wash golf clothing, dry equipment and keep everyone’s belongings organised. Whether the group follows the same schedule or heads in different directions, everyone can return to one shared place at the end of the day.

HELP PLAN YOUR GOLF BREAK

Practical Advice for Accommodation, Courses and Travel

CHOOSE A BASE AROUND YOUR COURSES

Stay in central or western St Andrews when your itinerary focuses on the Old, New, Jubilee and other Links courses. Choose a property with parking when your rounds include Kingsbarns, Crail, Dumbarnie, Elie or courses elsewhere in Fife.

LEAVE SPACE IN YOUR ITINERARY

Avoid filling every day with tightly timed rounds. Leaving one or two spaces gives your group flexibility for changing weather, additional tee times or another round at a favourite course.

PLAN FOR THE OLD COURSE BALLOT

A walkable property can make a successful Old Course ballot easier to manage at short notice. Accommodation does not include or guarantee a tee time, which must be arranged separately through St Andrews Links or an authorised provider.

CHECK BEDROOM AND BATHROOM LAYOUTS

Look beyond the total guest capacity when booking for a golf group. Flexible twin beds, several bathrooms and enough seating can make busy mornings and relaxed evenings much more comfortable.

CONSIDER CLUB STORAGE AND LAUNDRY

Selected properties include entrance halls, utility areas or secure spaces suitable for golf clubs and shoes. Washing machines, dryers and drying space are especially useful after wet or muddy rounds.

ORGANISE PARKING AND TRANSPORT

Private or allocated parking is available at selected properties, while central stays can reduce the need to drive to nearby Links courses. Groups arriving through Leuchars should arrange transport with enough luggage space for passengers and golf clubs.

BOOK LARGER HOMES EARLY

Larger properties, flexible bedroom setups and accommodation within walking distance of the Old Course are often the first to book. Reserving early gives your group a better choice of locations, layouts and stay dates.
