From Edinburgh (approximately 50 miles / 80 km):

  • Take the M90 motorway north towards Perth.
  • Exit at junction 2A for the A92, heading towards Kirkcaldy.
  • Follow the A92 until you reach Leven.
  • From Leven, continue on the A917 towards Anstruther.
  • After passing Anstruther, follow signs to Cellardyke, which is just a short distance to the east of Anstruther.

From Glasgow (approximately 75 miles / 120 km):

  • Take the M8 motorway towards Edinburgh.
  • Exit onto the M80, continuing north on the M9 motorway.
  • Once on the M90, follow the same directions as from Edinburgh, taking the A92 towards Leven and then onto the A917 to Anstruther and Cellardyke.

Cellardyke is about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from either city, depending on traffic.

By Train:

From Edinburgh:

  • Take a train from Edinburgh Waverley to Leuchars (approximately 1 hour).
  • From Leuchars, take a local bus or taxi to Anstruther (around 10-15 minutes).
  • Once in Anstruther, Cellardyke is a short walk east along the coast (approximately 15 minutes).

From Glasgow:

  • Take a train to Edinburgh Waverley (about 1 hour).
  • Then, transfer to a train heading to Leuchars and follow the same steps as above.

Trains run regularly, and the journey offers lovely views of the Fife countryside and coastline.

By Bus:

You can easily reach Anstruther and other East Neuk villages by bus. The Stagecoach 95 service offers regular connections between all the towns and villages in the area, including Pittenweem. It’s a convenient and scenic way to explore the region!
